Intensive Outpatient Program

The Beautiful Minds Medical Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers short-term, integrated mental health treatment for adults.

Each client receives a personalized plan of care, which includes group therapy, weekly psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and wellness education. We also provide an option for individual and family therapy.

The program is held three hours a day (9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.), five days per week. The average length of stay is three weeks, but longer treatment will be assessed based on patient progress and continuing need for therapy.

Our Treatment Philosophy

At Beautiful Minds Medical, we believe in whole-person health. Our treatment focuses on enhancing every aspect of life—body, mind, and spirit. The IOP provides a compassionate and structured environment for participants to learn skills that will enhance their mental, physical, emotional, and social wellness.

Admission Criteria

Our IOP program helps adults ages 18 and older who have symptoms of diagnosable mental illnesses, including depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.  Ideal candidates are those who have symptoms that make it difficult to function in at least one area of daily life and need more support than weekly therapy, but are still safe to live at home. We will evaluate your symptoms to determine if you are likely to show significant progress in treatment within our program’s time frame.

Program Components

We take a comprehensive approach to care with our IOP, offering clients the following services for their mental health care journey

Group Therapy

Our group therapy sessions create a supportive environment for you to share your experiences with people facing similar challenges. This provides an opportunity to learn from one another and build a sense of community. You can gain insight into your own thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing skills in communication, active listening, and conflict resolution.

Weekly Psychiatric Evaluation

Our psychiatrists can assess and diagnose your mental health concerns, prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, and work with you to make your treatment goals a reality.

Wellness Education Classes

During these sessions, our team of mental health professionals will walk you through making actionable lifestyle changes to manage your symptoms and reach your treatment goals.

Medication Management

Our team will also help you manage your symptoms and medications. We will discuss how the medication is impacting your symptoms and any potential side effects you are experiencing. Then, we can consult with your primary care doctor if any adjustments need to be made.

Hydrotherapy and Massage

These services support your mental health by reducing stress hormones and increasing endorphins that alleviate anxiety, improve mood, and promote relaxation. They also ease muscle tension and improve circulation to benefit overall wellness.

Conditions Treated

Our intensive outpatient program helps patients who are dealing with a variety of mental health concerns, including:

  • Depression: This condition is marked by consistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and low mood. Patients also often experience a loss of interest or pleasure in previously enjoyed hobbies and activities.
  • Anxiety and Panic Disorders: Anxiety disorders are characterized by persistent and excessive worry that interferes with daily activities. Panic disorder is a specific kind of anxiety disorder marked by episodes of intense fear known as panic attacks.
  • Bipolar Disorder: This condition results in extreme mood swings, including emotional highs known as mania and lows known as depression.
  • Substance Abuse (as a secondary diagnosis): This is a disease that affects your behavior and brain, resulting in an inability to control the use of legal or illegal drugs or medicine. A secondary diagnosis refers to a coexisting condition that affects another diagnosis at the time of your admission.

If any of these conditions are making it difficult for you or a loved one to engage in daily life, our intensive outpatient program may be a good fit for your needs.
