Mental Health Challenges Faced by Veterans

As a veteran, you have experienced stressful and often dangerous situations that take a toll on your mental health. These stressful environments are the perfect breeding ground for mental health issues such as PTSD, MDD, and anxious depression. Many of these mental health concerns occur in conjunction with each other, magnifying the symptoms of each and making it difficult to function in your day-to-day life. Finding the right treatment option for you may be difficult, as finding what works takes time, and medication does not work for everyone. That is why it is important to know what kind of benefits Auburn veterans could gain from PrTMS® therapy.

How Does PrTMS Treatment Work?

PrTMS® attempts to target your mental health symptoms at their source: your brain. It targets the emotional regulation centers of the brain to stimulate activity using magnetic pulses, similar to an MRI. Veterans who experience MDD often see a reduction in activity in regions of the brain involved in mood control. By encouraging activity using a magnetic field, these regions of the brain become more active and can even begin regenerating the neural networks that are necessary for regular function. In Auburn, this non-invasive treatment requires no surgery and can be used by itself or in addition to traditional psychiatric medications and therapies that veterans already employ for their mental health.

Benefits of PrTMS Treatments

PrTMS® therapy is a beneficial treatment option for veterans in Auburn for many reasons, including the following.

It Is Safe and Effective

PrTMS® is a safe, effective treatment option for your MDD and PTSD. While it carries a minor risk of side effects, such as headaches or scalp discomfort, PrTMS® may be an improvement for those who experience more severe side effects with traditional medications or find that medications do not work for their symptoms. PrTMS often starts providing relief from symptoms within four weeks of treatment.

There Is No Down Time

Being a non-invasive procedure, PrTMS® has no downtime after a treatment session. Your treatment will take around 30 to 40 minutes per session, with daily sessions for roughly seven weeks. After each session, you will be free to return to your daily activities without worrying about observation periods or limitations.

Experience Lasting Results

PrTMS® results can last up to a year. If your MDD symptoms return, you may return for another full treatment regimen, but the relief of your symptoms will speak for itself. Having an extended period without MDD symptoms will allow you to lead a more fulfilling, enjoyable life.

There is a rare risk of seizure associated with the use of TMS therapy (<0.1% per patient).

PrTMS Advanced Therapy should not be used with patients who have non-removable conductive metal in or near the head. PrTMS® Advanced Therapy has not been studied in patients who have not received prior antidepressant treatment.
