Conditions Treated by Yuba City PrTMS® Therapy

When you are dealing with ongoing mental health symptoms, it can feel like you are always compensating, such as working harder to concentrate, forcing yourself through social situations, or pretending you are fine when you are mentally exhausted. If you have already tried medication or other support, you may be looking for a more structured plan that does not depend on trial-and-error alone.

At Beautiful Minds Medical, our team supports Yuba City patients exploring conditions treated by PrTMS® therapy with a compassionate and wholistic approach that looks beyond your symptoms. We use a bio-psycho-social-spiritual model to help you understand root contributors and build a PrTMS® therapy plan that fits your life while keeping expectations realistic and clear.

Major Depressive Disorder Support With PrTMS®

One of the main conditions many people in Yuba City seek PrTMS® therapy for is major depressive disorder. Symptoms can include low mood, loss of interest, sleep disruption, slowed thinking, or feeling disconnected from yourself and others. Medication can help some patients, but it can also cause systemic side effects and may require multiple changes to find a suitable fit.

Personalized repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (PrTMS®) is a non-invasive treatment that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate targeted brain regions related to mood, similar to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology.

A typical plan is five days a week for seven weeks—although treatment could be longer depending on your needs—and sessions last 30 to 40 minutes. Many patients notice changes over four to six weeks rather than immediately, and published findings suggest benefits may last up to 12 months for some patients (Dunner DL, et al. (2014). J Clin Psychiatry, 75(12):1394-1401).

How Does PrTMS® Treat Depression With Comorbid Anxiety?

Many patients describe symptoms that feel like a combination of heaviness and agitation, such as low motivation paired with worry, tension, or irritability. This condition—often described as depression with comorbid anxiety—can affect your relationships, work performance, and basic routines, including eating well and sleeping consistently.

When you explore PrTMS® support, our team also helps you strengthen stabilizing habits for your life in Yuba City using our CHOOSE LIFE principles. These habits may include consistent hydration, daily light exposure, movement that supports stress regulation, and a steady internal clock. We do not present these steps as a replacement for care, but rather as part of a wholistic plan that supports you as you pursue PrTMS® treatment and track meaningful changes over time.

PrTMS® Therapy as an Adjunct Option for OCD

Some patients also ask about treatment plans for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). While yes, it is an option, TMS therapy is an adjunct treatment for OCD, meaning patients should continue the other treatments they are using alongside it to maintain appropriate care for their condition.

During your consultation, we can discuss how an adjunct approach for this condition may fit into your broader plan and what a realistic treatment schedule looks like for PrTMS® therapy when commuting to our office from Yuba City.

Adolescent Indications for Use

PrTMS® Advanced Therapy is indicated as an adjunct for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adolescent patients (15-21).

Important Safety Information

The most common side effect is pain or discomfort at or near the treatment site. These events are transient, occurring during the TMS treatment course and typically not recurring for most patients after the first week of treatment. There is a rare risk of seizure associated with the use of TMS therapy (<0.1% per patient).

PrTMS® Advanced Therapy should not be used with patients who have non-removable conductive metal in or near the head. PrTMS® Advanced Therapy has not been studied in patients who have not received prior antidepressant treatment.
