Living with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can feel like an invisible weight that impacts your relationships, career, self-esteem, and overall quality of life. For those who have survived or witnessed a traumatic event, painful memories are often daily distractions that make it difficult to move forward.
In the aftermath of trauma, finding the right healing treatment can make a profound difference. Traditional modalities such as medication do not work for everyone. If you are struggling with PTSD, our dedicated team at Beautiful Minds Medical is here to support you with wholistic and personalized solutions. We are here to help you understand how Auburn PrTMS® treatments work for PTSD and other conditions and whether this advanced therapy may be right for you.
Personalized repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (PrTMS®) is a type of TMS Therapy you can pursue in Auburn. TMS is a non-invasive procedure that administers electromagnetic pulses through the scalp to stimulate specific areas of the brain involved in mood control. It is proven to be a successful way to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and other mental health conditions, and is particularly effective for those who have not had success with other methods of treatment.
Our team at Beautiful Minds uses the PrTMS® system for TMS Therapy. This non-invasive, drug-free approach to mental health treatment has shown promise in enhancing functions in daily life, including:
This advanced technology synchronizes each magnetic pulse to the patient’s individual brain wave patterns, seeking to alleviate symptoms while also restoring the brain’s natural rhythms.
PrTMS® is emerging as an effective treatment for more mental health concerns beyond major depressive disorder (MDD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), including PTSD. PrTMS® uses each Auburn patient’s unique brainwave data to guide magnetic stimulation, offering more precise and individualized results for PTSD.
Current studies show that PrTMS®, especially when combined with psychotherapy, can lead to significant and sustained reduction in PTSD symptoms. While research is still being conducted to understand the full scope of TMS Therapy’s potential for PTSD treatment, early data suggests that this method may help reduce symptoms, including:
Psychotherapy works in conjunction with these sessions to help patients process and heal from traumatic events as their brainwaves calibrate to a balanced rhythm.
PrTMS® is considered generally safe and well-tolerated by most people. Unlike other mental health treatments, TMS therapy does not require the use of medication or invasive procedures. Traditional medications can often cause harsh side effects that make treatment intolerable. Common side effects can include headache, dizziness, and scalp discomfort, but some patients experience no side effects at all. If you do, they are typically mild and resolve quickly.
While PrTMS® is a safe option for most Auburn patients with PTSD, it may not be an appropriate treatment for some, such as patients with magnetic implantable devices, such as a pacemaker, aneurysm clips, or cochlear implants. At your initial consultation, please come prepared to discuss your full medical history so our team can ensure your safety and eligibility for treatments.
TMS Therapy is an empowering way to take control of your mental health and pursue solutions that work. At Beautiful Minds Medical, we prioritize wholistic and personalized treatments that heal the mind, body, and soul. Important Safety Information
The most common side effect is pain or discomfort at or near the treatment site. These events are transient, occurring during the TMS treatment course and typically not recurring for most patients after the first week of treatment. There is a rare risk of seizure associated with the use of TMS therapy (<0.1% per patient).
PrTMS® Advanced Therapy should not be used with patients who have non-removable conductive metal in or near the head. PrTMS® Advanced Therapy has not been studied in patients who have not received prior antidepressant treatment.
